4 Le passé composé - révision There are always 2 parts to a verb in the past tense – the AUXILIARY and the PAST PARTICIPLE. Usually, the auxiliary is part of the verb AVOIR. Sometimes, when using a verb of motion (DR SAM TAVERN MP), the auxiliary is part of the verb ÊTRE. If a verb is regular, then it will follow one of 3 rules: verbs ending –ER become –É, -IR become –I and –RE become -U
