Mauvaise couverture cartographique 2.5 % du continent est cartographié à 1/25.000 (Comparé à lEurope: 86.9% ; Ex-RSS : 100%) Manque de cohérence des données Faible interop é rabilit é et absence de norme de production Un accès aux données non codifié Duplication des efforts Les mêmes données sont produites par diverses agences Absence de documentation sur les données Cela ne favorise pas la publication des données Instabilité des ressources humaines Une masse acceptable de professionnels en matière dIG mais une très grande mobilité Faiblesse de la coordination Différents systèmes de codification et de classification Peu de bases de données régionales sont harmisées et intégrées

Les principaux défis de mise en œuvre de lIDS sont : Mobilisation des ressources financières ; Eveiller l'intérêt des décideurs politiques.
