L’infinitif passé

You use a the infinitive of avoir or être and the past participle.
The verb past participle will dictate whether you use avoir or être. You will follow the same rules for passé composé.

You use l’infinitif passé:
Following après Après avoir gagné, nous sommes allés à Disneyworld. Après m’être brossé les dents, je me suis couchée.

In the second part of the sentence following words such as “sans” or after expressions of feeling and “de”. Ils ont quitté sans avoir dit “au revoir”. Nous sommes allés à Paris sans avoir résérvé une chambre. Nous sommes heureux d’avoir réussi à l’examen.

To make these sentences negative, you will place the ne pas in front of the helping verb and you will do this when it is following the “de”. Ils sont tristes de ne pas avoir réussi.
