La vertu profitable et le profit vertueux : Le Philanthrocapitalisme; un simple discours politique ou un nouveau paradigme en construction ? Aujourd’hui en 2011, que peut-on dire de cette idée de « profit vertueux » ? Le discours prononcé par Bill Gates en 2008 - véritable promotion du « capitalisme créatif » - fut-il le signe d'un revirement inévitable du paradigme économique vers un nouvel environnement concurrentiel mondial? Un environnement dans lequel la responsabilité sociale des entreprises et la durabilité ne sont plus de simples gestes philanthropiques mais des éléments fondamentaux d’un nouveau modèle d’entreprise et du couple rendement / risque. Lindsey NEFESH-CLARKE (MBA 09) Fondatrice et Directrice de Women’s Worldwide Web Alumni of the year 2010 Après plusieurs expériences dans l’humanitaire, Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke réalisa un MBA à ESCP Europe pendant lequel elle reçut le prix du « Meilleur Etudiant MBA de l’année » remis par l’AMBA et le journal The Independant. En Juillet 2009, elle fonda Women’s Worlwide Web, plateforme Internet visant à promouvoir la condition des femmes dans le monde par l’éducation, le microcrédit, le mentoring et le networking. Soulager la pauvreté en défendant la cause des plus vulnérables, grâce au développement de l’économie sociale, tel est l’objectif de Lindsey.

Profitable Virtue and Virtuous Profit: “Philanthro-capitalism” - A simple policy discussion or a new paradigm in the making? Today, in 2011, what is to be said of the notion of virtuous profit? Was Bill Gates’s famous 2008 speech - calling for a new “creative capitalism”- the hallmark of an inevitable paradigm shift in business towards a new, globally competitive environment? An environment in which corporate social responsibility and sustainability are no longer mere philanthropic gestures but are, instead, fundamental parts of new business models and risk/reward structures? Lindsey NEFESH-CLARKE (MBA 09) Founder and Director of Women’s Worldwide Web Alumni of the year 2010 After much experience in the humanitarian sector, Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke studied for her MBA at ESCP Europe, during which time she won the “Best MBA Student” award from AMBA and The Independent newspaper. She graduated in 2009 and won our Alumni of the Year award in 2010. In July 2009, she founded Women’s Worldwide Web, a website dedicated to the improvement of women’s conditions throughout the world through education, microcredit, mentoring, and networking. Lindsey’s objectives are to ease poverty and defend the cause of the vulnerable, through the development of the social economy.
