Quelle est la date aujourd’hui? Objectifs: To improve listening and reading for gist skills-Level 5/6 To improve dictionary skills. To revise the present tense. PLTS: Team workers/Effective Participators.

I can remember 5 or more new words. I can create my own sentences in the present tense.. I understood how to use a dictionary to work out the infinitive of a verb. Level 6 I can remember 3-5 new words. I can form the present tense with support and translate basic sentences. I can work out what some unfamiliar words mean. Level 5 I can remember at least 3 new words. I can recognise how to form the present tense in the ‘je’ form. I am starting to feel confident using a dictionary in unfamiliar contexts. Level 4/5 How will I know if I have made progress?

Alors on chante Lalalalalala, Alors on chante Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala Alors on chante (x2) Et puis seulement quand c’est fini, alors on danse. Alors on danse (x7) Et ben y en a encore (X5) divorce famine fatigue problèmes. c'est fini la musique. la tête

He who says 'study' says 'work', he who says 'work' says 'money', he who says 'money' says 'spend', he who says 'credit' says 'debt', he who says 'debt' says 'bailiffs', yes you're in deep ****. He who says 'Love' says 'kids', says 'forever' and says 'divorce'. He who says 'relatives' says 'loss', because problems never come by themselves. He who says 'crisis' says to you 'world', says 'famine', says 'third-world'. He who says 'fatigue' says 'wake up deaf from the night before' (and) so we go out to forget all our problems (and) so we dance X9 and then you say it's over (this is as far as you'll go) because the only thing worse than this would be death. when you finally think that you'll leave when there's more, well, more comes along. ecstasy means a problem, problems or just the music, it makes you trip it takes your head and then you pray for it to stop but it's your body, it's not heaven and so you block your ears and then you yell even louder and it persists... (and) so you sing and so you sing and then, only when it's finished, then you dance. and then there's more. De quoi s’agit-il? What is the song about? Pick out 8 key words! Vous avez 3 minutes.

Rap and hip-hop have been part of France's immigrant youth scene for so long that many of the original artists - like Joey Starr, MC Solaar and the group IAM - are now regarded as respected old-timers. The new stars are men and women in their 20s - almost all of African or Arab origin. Song after song dwells on the same themes of hopelessness, rejection by France, police harassment and the rage that follows. Disiz La Peste, a 27-year-old of mixed Senegalese and French parentage whose real name is Serigne M'Baye, has just released his third album, entitled The Extraordinary Stories Of A Youth In The Banlieue. The chorus of the title song goes: "For France it matters nothing what I do / In its mind I will always be / Just a youth from the banlieue**". "Few people in France have a normal attitude towards us. People are either fascinated or they are frightened. There are two worlds crashing against each other. People have a problem with us, and we do with them," he said in a recent interview. **BANLIEUE- means the ghetto in French. Vous avez 3 minutes. Discutez en anglais? Pourquoi est-ce que le rap est important pour les immigrés???
