2 RAPPEL! Le Passé Composé Le passé composé is used to express actions that are completed in the past. An idea expressed in the passé composé can be translated in 3 ways: i.e. Jai mangé - I ate -I did eat -I have eaten All of these indicate a completed action.

3 Usage de lImparfait Limparfait is used to set the scene in the past, and in the following scenarios: 1. For description in the past (was _____ing; were ______ing) 2. To express repeated actions in the past (used to _________), or two simultaneous actions in the past (pendant que, etc.) 3. A description of mental state (thoughts, etc.) 4. Describe a habitual action in the past

4 La Formation de lImparfait Limparfait is formed using the nous form in the present tense as a stem, then adding a special ending for each form. Exemples: (regarder) nous regardons je regardais (finir) nous finissons je finissais
