4 De nationalité Sri-Lankaise, Ravi est Rotarien depuis l’âge de 21 ans et a été administrateur du Rotary, d’administrateur de la Fondation Rotary et trésorier du Rotary. Sri-Lanka citizen, Ravi has been Rotarian since he’s 21 years of age. 8 Le Président Ravi évoque le postulat: « Personne n’est éternel et la vie est toujours trop courte ». Partant de ce postulat il nous pose les questions suivantes: À quoi allons-nous dédier notre existence ? Nobody is eternal and life is more than short. What are we going to dedicate our life to? Give it to others in order to achieve immortality? 8 THEME 2015-2016

9 Ou allons-nous passer nos jours à accorder et désaccorder notre lyre sans que le chant que nous devions chanter ne le soit ? Or spend our days, as the famous Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore wrote, in stringing and unstringing our instruments, while the song we came to sing remains unsung? 9 THEME 2015-2016

10 10 Pour répondre à ces questions RAVI, Président 2015-2016 du RI, nous invite à utiliser notre appartenance au Rotary. The glory of Rotary is to help us to find the way to sing that song THEME 2015-2016

11 Pour lui la beauté du Rotary est qu’il nous donne les moyens d’agir. Il donne un sens à notre existence. Il nous encourage à nous concentrer sur l’essentiel et aide chacun d’entre nous à trouver sa voie. Le Rotary permet de se transcender. It guides us on a path to lead more meaningful life, by encouraging us to focus our attention on useful reason— and helping each of us to find his own way to be a gift to the world. 11 THEME 2015-2016

12 Le Rotary représente un énorme potentiel, mais la réalité dans certains de nos clubs … n’est pas ce qu’elle devrait être. Rotary has tremendous potential, but the reality in some of our clubs... is not what that should be. 12 THEME 2015-2016

13 Il est urgent de restaurer les fondations sur lesquelles est bâti le ROTARY : le respect d’une éthique dans tous les aspects de notre vie et le système des classifications qui est un gage de diversité professionnelle dans chaque club. It is urgent to restore the foundation on which ROTARY is built: ethic respect in every aspect of our life and the classification system which is a guarantee of professional diversity in each club. 13 THEME 2015-2016

14 Ces concepts sont trop souvent perçus comme des obstacles à la croissance de nos effectifs. Pourtant, ils ont été essentiels au succès du Rotary. Si nous les ignorons, nous le faisons à notre propre péril. Those concepts are often considered as obstacles to the growth of our workforce. Yet they were essential to the success of Rotary. If we ignore them, we do so at our own peril. 14 THEME 2015-2016

15 En effet, lorsque vous avez un club composé de membres dont l’honnêteté est irréprochable et dont la gamme d’expertise est étendue, rien ne peut l’arrêter, vous avez un club qui est un véritable don. Indeed, when you have a club composed of members whose honesty is impeccable and whose range of expertise has expanded, nothing can impede, you have a club that is a true gift. 15 THEME 2015-2016

16 On perd trop souvent son temps à la poursuite d’objectifs futiles. On cherche à assurer sa réussite personnelle et à accumuler des biens matériels. Et pourtant, à l’heure ultime, personne ne se souviendra de la voiture qu’on aura pu conduire ou les postes que l’on aura occupés. 16 THEME 2015-2016

17 17 Rotary is a way to bring out the best part of ourselves, and let it guide our lives. Too often, we spend our days in pursuit of the goals that should matter least. We focus our attention on our own achievements and our own gain; we devote endless energy to the accumulation of material things. Yet at the end of our lives, no one will remember us for the cars we drove, the clothes we wore, the titles. THEME 2015-2016

18 Allons-nous détourner le regard de la souffrance humaine ou nous efforcer de la soulager ? Nous prévaloir de la compassion ou passer à l’action ? Nous contenter de prendre sans jamais donner ? Are we going to avert our eyes from human suffering, or will we alleviate it? Will we speak words of compassion, or will we act on them? 20 Chacun de nous a quelque chose à offrir : talents, connaissances, compétences et temps. Nous pouvons nous impliquer corps et âme – sans compter. Grâce au Rotary, nous pouvons avoir un réel impact dans le monde. Each of us has something to give — whoever we are, whatever position we stand. We can give our talent, our knowledge, our abilities, and our effort; we can give our dedication and our devotion.Through Rotary, we can take these gifts and make a genuine difference in the lives of others and in our world. 20 THEME 2015-2016

24 Il est dit que l’on vient au monde les poings fermés mais que l’on meurt les paumes ouvertes. Nos talents sont un cadeau divin et ce que nous en faisons est notre don à Dieu. It is said that we are born fists clenched, but we die hands open, so our talents are the gift God gave us. What we make with our talents is our gift back to God. 24 THEME 2015-2016

25 On passe sa vie à accumuler des richesses que l’on doit laisser derrière soi. Grâce au Rotary, nous pouvons laisser notre empreinte sur le monde. Le Rotary nous permet de léguer un héritage tangible, réel et durable. Equally we come into this world grasping everything, but when we leave it, we leave all material things behind as well. Through Rotary, we can leave behind us something real and lasting. 25 THEME 2015-2016

26 Ne ratons pas cette occasion unique de Faire don de soi au monde. Nous avons « … une année pour construire des monuments qui résisteront à la marche du temps. Ils ne seront pas taillés dans le granit ou le marbre, mais dans les vies et les cœurs des futures générations. Une si belle occasion ne se représentera pas. Saisissons-la », a conclu le Président RAVINDRAN. Our time is now. It will never come again. “One year to build an useful monument for life in the human beings’ lives, hearts for the following generations. Such a good occasion is not going to be back. 28 Donnez votre expertise, donner vos talents……..pour que des jeunes filles qui aujourd’hui restent à la maison aillent à l’école l’année prochaine. Donnez votre expertise, donner vos talents …..pour que des champs arides en manque d’irrigation produisent une récolte la saison prochaine. Add your expertise, give your talents........to those girls today at home, go to school next year. Add your expertise to your talents.....to arid fields in lack of irrigation produce a crop next season. 28 THEME 2015-2016

29 Donner votre expertise, donner vos talents …pour briser le cercle vicieux de la pauvreté, aider les défavorisés et donner de l’espoir à tous ceux qui vivent en marge de la société. Offer expertise, give your talents... to break the vicious circle of poverty, help the disadvantaged and give hope to those who live on the fringes of society. 29 THEME 2015-2016
