2 How does it work? The Imperative works pretty much the same as it does in English: [You] finish your homework => Finish your homework! [You] eat your sandwich => Eat your sandwich! [Tu] finis tes devoirs => Finis tes devoirs! [Vous] mangez votre sandwich => Mangez votre sandwich!

3 Forming it In the “vous” form, just remove the “vous” and keep the Present of the“vous” form: Vous regardez Regardez la télé! Vous allez Allez à la pharmacie! Vous ouvrezOuvrez la fenêtre!

4 Forming it In the “tu” form, it is more or less as easy, but not quite: If forming the Imperative of an -er verb, remove the final “s”: Tu mangesMange le sandwich! Tu jouesJoue au football! Tu vasVa au cinéma!

5 Forming it However, if forming the Imperative of an-ir or –re verb, KEEP the final “s”: (Finir)Tu finis Finis tes devoirs! (lire)Tu lis Lis le journal! (prendre)Tu prends Prends le bus! (vendre)Tu vends Ne vends pas ta maison!

6 Using the “nous” form The “nous” form of the verb minus the “nous” can be used as an imperative to mean “Let’s do sth.” e.g.Mangeons!= Let’s eat! Rentrons!= Let’s go home! Jouons au foot!= Let’s play football!
