2 The infinitive is the form of the verb that you can find in a dictionary. In English, it starts with ‘to’ eg to jump, to skip In French, the infinitive of verbs ENDS in: -er -ir -re

3 You may already know that after OPINIONS, you use the INFINITIVE of the verb:- eg j’aime jouer au golf j’adore faire du ski opinion infinitive

4 ‘ on peut’ + infinitive means ‘one can...’ Example: Dans ma ville, on peut voir (la tour). =In my town, one can see (the tower) Infinitive

5 Dans ma ville, on peut voir le musée

6 Dans ma ville, on peut voir....Dans ma ville, on peut voirle château

7 Dans ma ville, on peut voir la cathédrale

8 You can use different verbs after ‘on peut’

9 Dans ma ville, on peut aller à la piscine

10 Dans ma ville, on peut aller à....Dans ma ville, on peut aller au cinéma Don’t forget! à + le = au

11 Dans ma ville, on peut visiter...Dans ma ville, on peut visiter la plage

12 To make a sentence NEGATIVE: On NE peut PAS + infinitive EG On ne peut pas faire du patin à glace.

13 To summarise: on peut = one/you can On ne peut pas = one/you cannot visiter = visit aller à = go to voir = see
