Transcription de la présentation:

The subjunctive expresses feelings, judgments, and emotions. It is subjective rather than objective. Objective(indicatif): The windows are closed. Les fenêtres sont fermées. (verifiable – C’est vrai ou c’est faux) Subjective (subjonctif): It’s important that you be on time. (What is important to one person may not be important to another. The statement may change according to the speaker’s viewpoint.)

La formation du subjonctif pour les verbes réguliers: stem  the stem for the present subjonctif is formed from the present indicative tense of the ils form minus the -ent. par example: ils parlent  "parl" is the stem ils rendent  "rend" is the stem ils finissent  "finiss" is the stem ils comprennent  "comprenn" is the stem ils sortent  "sort" is the stem

Whenever one forces one’s will (volonté) upon another, the subjonctif is used. The most common expression is vouloir. Others are exiger, désirer, préférer, accepter, aimer mieux. English: I want him to come. French: Je veux qu’il vienne. Vouloir requires a clause to follow in French, but an infinitive in English. We want him to understand. Nous voulons qu’il comprenne.

1.We want her to remember him. 2.I want him to learn French. 3.She wants them (m) to allow us to leave. 4.You (informal) want me not to hear her. 5.They (f) want us to blush. 6.You (formal) want him to gain weight. 7.I want you (informal) to obey me. 8.We want you (formal) to choose her. 9.I want her to consider le problème. 10.They (m) want me to sleep upstairs. 11.I want them (m) to sleep downstairs. 12.You (informal) want me to act (behave) bien.
