RIPESS Europe Solidarity Economy Europe Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of Social Solidarity Economy, Europe

OBJECTIVES o Exchange practices and get engaged in common action that can expand and improve the visibility of Solidarity-based economy. o The networks aims to bring together actors and organizations of the social and solidarity economy sector at international level and gain recognition for the contribution of alternative modes of production, consumption, savings and exchange. The aim is to achieve a more just kind of economic regulation and a solidarity-based development model.

SHORT TERM OBJECTIVES 1. Make visible the networks, the actors and the experiences of solidarity-based economy (exterior and interior visibility). 2. Share experiences and best practices. 3. Develop and promote the economic cooperation between networks and ES actors. 4. Develop common projects. 5. Develop a collective intelligence. 6. Construct a common voice. 7. Enlarge toward North and East Europe to reach a larger cultural and linguistic diversity.

THERE ARE 6 WORK THEMES IN THE PROGRAM 1. Mapping, enlargement, identity and cooperation. 2. Social Services of General Interest (SSGI), relations between the public sector and solidarity-based economy. 3. Solidarity-based economy, local pactes, territorial development, food souverignty. 4. Responsible consumption, fair trade and solidarity-based tourism, ethical finances. 5. Solidarity-based economy as an alternative to the capitalist system. 6. The RIPESS Europe : which strategy, which position to take, which added values and how to enlarge to take our place in european debates?

CHARACTERISTICS AND ADDED VALUE OF SOLIDARITY- BASED ECONOMY 1.Organizations who are part of the social movement (≠ network of enterprises). 2.Actors of social change (ecological and socio-economic transition). 3.Support on the collective dimension of entrepreneurship and democratic governance. 4.Does not substitute the welfare state systems but completes them by citizenship initiatives. Sibling mouvement of social economy from which it mainly borrows the legal statuts of societies of individuals (cooperatives, mutual association, associations)
