Object Pronoun "EN"

* “en” replaces de, du, de la, de l’, or des + noun. * translates as some, any or of it/them. * “en” MUST always be included in French, but is typically omitted in English. * “en” comes BEFORE the verb of which it is the object. ~in a negative sentence, “en” comes after “ne” (n’) and the verb.

Examples: J’ai six stylos. J’en ai six. Vous voulez des fraises? Oui, j’en veux. Non, je n’en veux pas. Tu achetes du beurre? Oui, j’en achete deux kilos. Non, je n’en achete rien. Nous allons acheter des pommes. Nous allons en acheter.

* If you have a specific amount or quantity, it stays. for example: Ils ont six enfants. Ils en ont six. * If “en” is the object of an infinitive, it comes directly in front of the infinitive. Nous allons acheter des gombos. Nous allons en acheter.
