1. You use the negative expressions Personne ne… and Rien ne… as the subject of a sentence. Note that you do not use pas after the verb Personne ne répond au téléphone. Rien n’a changé ici. 2. Rien ne… is often used with the verbs se passer and arriver, which both mean “to happen”. Qu’est- ce qui se passe? and Qu’est-ce qui arrive? mean “What’s happening?”, “What’s going on?” Qu’est-ce qui se passe? Qu’est-ce qui est arrivé? Rien ne se passe. Rien n’est arrivé.
