First… Do you know what a direct object pronoun is? - It receives the action of the verb. - It answers the question “what” or “whom” Example: He is throwing They are making I see What is the direct object in these sentences? the ball. a cake. her.
And… Do you know what an indirect object pronoun is? - It is indirectly receives the action of the verb. - It answers the question “TO what” or “TO whom” Example: He is throwing They are making What is the INDIRECT object in these sentences? the ball a cake. to the ball. me their mom me. (or sometimes “FOR what or whom”)

Direct object pronouns en français The direct object pronouns in French are: le (him, it) me (me) la (her, it) te (you, sing.) les (them) nous (us) vous (you, plural) Sample sentences: Je le vois. (I see him/ it.) Tu me vois. (You see me.) Je la vois. (I see her/ it.) Je te vois. (I see you.) Je les vois. (I see them.) Tu nous vois. (You see us.) Je vous vois. (I see you all.)
REFLEXIVE pronouns are a little different. The action of the verb is reflecting back on the subject. They translate as: myself yourself himself herself ourselves yourselves themselves Let’s see what they look like…
Le garçon lave le chien. Il le lave. Le garçon se lave. le = Direct Object Pronoun se = Reflexive Pronoun
La mère réveille le garçon. Elle le réveille. La fille se réveille.
Le chien se lève. Conjugaison: Je me lève. Tu te lèves. Il/Elle/On se lève. Nous nous levons. Vous vous levez. Ils/Elles se lèvent.
L’homme regarde la peinture. Il la regarde. La femme se regarde. Try to say in French… I look at myself. You look at yourself. (informal) You look at yourselves. We look at ourselves.
La femme rase le chien. Elle le rase. “Les hommes” se rasent.
La femme se maquille.
Le garçon s’ habille.
Je m’ appelle … (I call myself...)
RECIPROCAL Using the reflexive form to mean “each other”
La fille embrasse le chien. Elle l’embrasse. Les enfants s ‘embrassent.
Les oiseaux se regardent. Les filles se regardent.
Is the plural REFLEXIVE OR RECIPROCAL ? … Have to look at the CONTEXT Les chats se regard ent. (The cats are looking at themselves.)
REFLEXIVE VERB with ANOTHER DIRECT OBJECT (SUBJECT THEN BECOMES AN INDIRECT OBJECT)

Elle se lave les mains. (She washes to herself the hands.)
La fille se brosse les cheveux. (She brushes to herself the hair.)
