Objective: To be able to form the imperfect tense to describe events in the past.

The imperfect tense, what is it? The imperfect tense is used when: a. Saying what something was like: C`était génial. – It was great. b. Talking about something that used to happen regularly: Je faisais du vélo. – I used to go bike riding. c. Or talking about something that went on for a long time: J`habitais à Paris. – I used to live in Paris. d. Or something you were doing when …: Je lisais un livre quand ……

How to form the imperfect tense: Remove the –ons from the nous form of the verb in the present tense: Aller – To go Nous form = Nous allons Remove the –ons = all

Find the nous form of these verbs: Nous faisons Faire = to do Nous jouons Jouer = to play Nous avons Avoir = to have Nous lisons Lire = to read Once you have found these verbs, take off the –ons. What are you left with?

Now add the correct endings: Je lis Tu lis Il lis Nous lis Vous lis Ils lis ais ait ions iez aient
