Agreement  In French adjectives agree in gender with the nouns they modify.  There are two genders in French, masculine and feminine.  Masculine nouns are preceded by the article “Le”.  Feminine nouns are preceded by the article “La”.  Knowing the genders of words is an important aspect of learning the language.  Certain words have different meanings depending on whether the word is used with the masculine article “Le” or the feminine article “La”.Ex. Agreement  Nationalities are Adjectives that describe nouns  You are American.  American is the adjective that describes You.  In French, there are both masculine and feminine forms of adjectives that correspond to the masculine and feminine forms of nouns.
