Le Conditionnel The conditional is used to express the consequences of a hypothetical situation using the structure: ◦ Si + Imparfait + Conditionnel ◦ Si vous étiez moins égoïste, vous auriez plus d’amis. The imperfect is always used in the si clause when the conditional is used in the consequence clause. The order can be changed without affecting the meaning of the sentence.
