2 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF STATES PARTIES TO THE WORLD HERITAGE CONVENTION 17 th e ASSEMBLEE GENERALE DES ETATS PARTIES A LA CONVENTION DU PATRIMOINE MONDIAL The Next Cycle of Periodic Reporting 1.to provide an assessment of the application of the World Heritage Convention by the State Party 2.to provide an assessment as to whether the outstanding universal value of the properties is being maintained over time 3.to provide up-dated information about the properties to record their state of conservation and the changing circumstances 4.to provide a mechanism for regional co-operation and exchange of information and experiences to ensure effective long term conservation of properties (para 202) According to Article 29 of the Convention and para 199 to 210 of the Operational Guidelines Periodic Reporting serves the four following purposes:

3 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF STATES PARTIES TO THE WORLD HERITAGE CONVENTION 17 th e ASSEMBLEE GENERALE DES ETATS PARTIES A LA CONVENTION DU PATRIMOINE MONDIAL Le prochain cycle du rapport périodique Selon l’article 29 de la Convention et le para 199-210 des Orientations les quatre objectifs du Rapport périodique sont les suivants : 1.fournir une étude sur l’application de la Convention du patrimoine mondial par l’Etat partie 2.fournir une étude afin de déterminer si la valeur universelle exceptionnelle des biens est maintenue dans le temps 3.fournir des informations à jour sur les biens afin d’enregistrer leur état de conservation et les changements de circonstances 4.fournir un mécanisme de coopération régionale et d’échanger des informations et des expériences afin d’assurer une conservation efficace sur le long terme des biens (para 202)
