6 AVOIR + PASSÉ COMPOSÉ Avoir is the “go to guy” for helping verbs When in doubt, choose avoir. There are no agreements with avoir past participles. Know your irregulars! Regular verbs Er - drop “er” replace with é Ir – drop “ir” replace with I Re – drop “re” replace with u Irregular verbs Prendre – pris Vouloir – voulu Voir – vu Boire – bu Faire – fait Avoir – eu Être – été Recevoir – reçu Pouvoir – pu Lire – lu
