5 New electrical activity
Hello David, Here is a new electrical activity. The 20th of January there will be a power cut early on the morning at BA6-BA7 that affect electrical safety network. We need to work on safety diesel network. For the SPS the Impact will be: Power cut on WS-SPS and WS-LHC Water station Power Cut on WS-NET Water station Power cut on safety network ok BA6 and BA7. Nobody should access the underground area during those tests. Normally the power cut is scheduled at 6:00 AM. The power cut will last few minutes. I won’t be present Wednesday afternoon cause I take part if AUG tests at BA4. Thanks for announcing this activity. Denis Ribiollet EN-MEF D.Mcfarlane

16 Access into ECA5 After discussion between BE-safety Unit, GS-ASE and E. Carlier, it was decided that following your transparencies on ECX5/ECA5, after week 2 (4th Jan.2016, shielding will be removed) until end of YETS 15/16, all people who must enter in ECA5 will access by BA5. In order to keep the patrol and the integrity of the area safe, the lift in ECA5 should not be used during this period, only for evacuation. By accessing through BA5, we can guarantee that people are registered and they have their SPS safety courses. A security panel with a chain should be installed at the bottom of the lift : "Do not use the lift, only for evacuation" by the TSO (Franck Bais) If one of the 3 ECA5 doors at the top of the cavern is forced, the CSA will re-arm it at the end of the day. 18 ECX5/ECA5 Week 3 (11th to 15th Jan)
EN/STI Work on SLAC collimator, UA9 and other works (5 days) Passageway must be kept clear for transport of magnets EN/EL Start De-cabling works in ECX5 (below passageway) EN/HE Monday AM. Transport bring equipment & bins for cables into ECX5 via ECA5 GS/SE Repair works to the floor in ECA5 Once magnet campaign is complete. EN/EL can start de-cabling water cooled cables on the main passageway

19 ECX5/ECA5 Week 4 (18th to 22nd Jan)
Area closed to everyone except EN/EL EN/EL will be working with 2 shifts. From 06:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs EN/EL De-cabling works in ECX5 and LSS5 (below passageway) GS/SE Repair works to the floor in ECA5 EN-MEF D.Mcfarlane

21 MKE kicker system to start pulsed tests in LSS4
The work in LSS4 is over, the area is clean and the protection barriers were put back on. We will have the HV flashers ON in LSS4, but we won’t be there often, as we will mostly be working in ECA4 and HCA4. As we had no request for electrical lock-out, we are theoretically free to unlock anytime, but I prefer to check with you that there is no unforeseen intervention in the magnets area in LSS4. I remember seeing once people working on top of our 35kV generators in LBDS with HV flashers ON ! They had the lock-out paperwork of another system 50m apart ! And apparently the flashing yellow lights was not a problem for them… ;) So MKE electrical unlock planned for Thursday morning, if no objection from you (Two days late on the announced planning, no so bad). 29 Access rights and safety equipment
Everyone who enters the SPS MUST have the following: Completed the correct courses. (sir.cern.ch) CERN Safety Introduction. Electrical Safety Awareness. (19 choices) Self Rescue Mask Training. (4 choices) CERN – Beam Facilities. SPS – Machine. The correct access authorisation (via EDH). Zone Code “SPS” for access into the SPS Zone Code “NA_TARG” for access into BA80 Zone Code “TAG41 - AWAKE (ex-CNGS) (TAG41)” for access into the old CNGS areas Zone Code “SPS-KN-000” for “Autorisation conduite RTL” Zone Code “SPS-KN-001” for “SPS Shutdown Padlock” (only used during Long Shutdowns) PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR ACCESS RIGHTS DO NOT EXPIRE AT THE END OF THIS YEAR!!!! A valid approved IMPACT. (with their name included on this IMPACT) They must know the number of this IMPACT. Safety shoes. Biocell. Electronic dosimetre. Passive dosimetre. Du 25/01 au 05/02 la capacité en alimentation en eau potable et eau brute des sites Meyrin, Prévessin, Point 18, Point 1, BA3, BA6, BA7, sera limitée il faudra dans la mesure du possible décaler les importantes consommations d’eau avant ou après cette période Note from Access Control: Pour le remplacement des batteries du système d’accès du SPS je dois encore intervenir le 16/02 au BA3. Cela génèrera une interruption d’accès pour le complexe SPS de 30 minutes. Je dois également faire la même intervention sur les points d’accès TAG42/ECX4 avec une interruption d’accès de 30 minutes uniquement pour ces points. Je prévois de faire ces interventions durant la pause de midi (12h00 à 13H30) du 16/02. La perturbation se fera sur l’impossibilité d’ouvrir la porte matériel et sur l’accès aux zones tunnels.
