Objectives I spent a lot of time last year positioning Microsoft’s BI tools such as Excel and Power BI by putting them in context in different use cases and explaining the evolution of BI in the enterprise. So I'm not going to cover these topics again today in this session, but if you want to talk about it later on, I’d be glad to do so. I’ll set very little context and focus on demo’s and questions. The level of the session will stay around 100 and is really aimed at users and super users as for objective to expose the attendees to the features offered by the Power BI app for Desktop when comes to create rich and interactive reports. So will talk about The Power BI application And of course of PowerBI for Desktop The powerbi.com web site By the show of hands: Who as ever seen the power BI application ? Who as ever seen the Power BI for desktop application ? Before we start, did any of came in with expectations, questions they’d like to adresse. © 2012 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Introduction to Power BI for Desktop
Power BI Desktop is a visual data exploration and reporting tool Commun Scenarios: Connect to data sources Create querries Configure relationships Define data model Design reports Publish to Power BI app A freely downloadable 32- or 64-bit desktop application optimized for use with the Power BI service Integrates proven Microsoft technologies Excel add-ins: Power Query, Power Pivot and Power View Enables multiple ways to transform schema and data Updated on a monthly basis Livré dans les deux 32 et 64 bits la version 64 bits offre de meilleures capacités de compression Power BI se connecter en mode natif à plusieurs sources de données.
