When the verb in the si clause is in the plus-que parfait, the verb in the main clause is in the present or past conditional, depending on whether the main clause relates to a past situation or to the present. The si clause can begin or end the sentence.

Condition: si + plus-que-parfait
Résultat: Conditionnel Passé Si je n’avais pas bu tant de café avec le dîner, j’ n’aurais pas pu finir mes devoirs hier soir. (If I hadn’t had so much coffee with dinner, I wouldn’t have been able to finish my homework last night.) Conditionnel Présent Si je n’avais pas bu tant de café avec le dîner, je ne serais pas si tendu maintenant. (If I hadn’t drank so much coffee yesterday, I wouldn’t feel so tense now.)

Condition: si + imparfait
Résultat: Conditionnel Il n’y aurait pas de préjugés si tout le monde avait l’esprit ouvert. (There wouldn’t be any prejudice, if everyone had an open mind.) S’il pleuvait, je travaillerais chez moi. (If it were raining, I would work at home.) Te senterais-tu mieux si tu te couchais plus tôt? (Would you feel better, if you went to bed earlier?)
