2 DEFINITION OF THE DELF The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) is an examination set by the French Ministry of National Education. An official diploma issued by the French Government

3 It is an official diploma with nation-wide rules comparable to the French baccalaureate. The DELF certifies the French skills of foreign students. It consists of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (the CEFR).

6 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DELF: Depending on your level, you can register directly for the examination of your choice. At each level 4 skills are assessed: aural comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension and written expression.

8 Written expressionWritten expression : - fill out a form and compose simple sentences - r(postcards, messages, captions) on everyday subjects. Compose two brief written items (informal letter or message) - describe an event or personal experiences; - write a note of invitation, thanks, apology, enquiry, information, congratulations. Express your own opinion on a general subject (essay, letter, article). Argue your personal opinion (contribution to a debate, formal letter, critical article). Oral expressionA three-part test : - a guided interview, - an exchange of information - a simulated dialogue.
