1 When do we use numbers? Why are they important? Why is it important to know numbers in French (or any other language)? Can you think of some REAL WORLD situations in which knowing how to say numbers might be important in another language?

2 Les objectifs- I can say and identify numbers 0-20 in French. I can identify and use mathematical terms in French. I can say and identify months of the year in French. I can ask someone’s birthday and I can tell them when mine is.

Mille NEVER uses an “s”!) 10,000 – dix mille - (SEE- there is no “s” here!!) 1,000,000 – un million 2,000,000 – deux millions (Notice there is an “s” on the word “million”.)

13 1,000,000,000 and BEYOND… NOW…pay attention here… 1,000,000,000 – un millard (a billion) 2,000,000,000 – deux milliards Millions and Billions keep their “s”, even when other numbers follow…see below! 2,834,125 –deux millions huit cent trente- quatre cent vingt-cinq PAUSE for “HOLIE MOLIE”… 2,287,982,352 – deux millards, deux cent quatre-vingt-sept millions, neuf cent quatre-vingt-deux, trois cent cinquante- deux…WHEW

14 Des BONNES NOUVELLES – (The Good News) NOW…you will NEVER be required by me to produce numbers (in French) of that quantity… You may have to some day, but NEVER for me…except maybe for extra credit on a QUIZ! Numbers are important in sports and games…what is this one (a French favorite)?
