After first click that illuminates the title “le grand jeu....” the next click sets off the 5 animated family words that come on from right to left with pauses in between. The next click brings up the question “what were they in English?” and then “what were they in Français again?” for lower ability groups you might allow them to write them down as they appear as this will still require them to know what they mean and will help their concentration and they’ll need to write quite fast. Certainly, i would suggest trying this for the first time around – perhaps build up to trying this without writing. You are going to use the next few slides to present & introduce (model) the French words for family, using the English Royal family as the example. Make sure they realise there isn’t a French Royal family.

7 As you describe the relationships keep repeating the key words as you point to the different family members and show visually how they are related to each other. You can re-cap with the class to make sure that they are with you. We can’t expect them to retain all 8 (16) words at this stage but they will hear them a lot and understand them and practise saying them with you. (perhaps 15 minutes whole class work here)
