Presentations In groups of three, present an original idea for a business, product, or service. [Présentez en groupes de trois personnes une idée originale pour un business, un produit, ou un service] Each person will be graded individually on their participation in the presentation. [Chaque personne aura une note individuelle pour leur participation dans la présentation.]

Elements of a successful presentation Delivery: speak clearly and naturally. Make eye contact with the audience. Do NOT read your presentation from notecards. [Elocution: parlez clairement et naturellement. Regardez l’audience. Ne lisez pas le texte de votre présentation.] Organization: Is your presentation well-structured and easy to follow? Does the audience understand your proposition? [Organisation: Est-ce que votre présentation est bien structurée et facile à suivre? Est-ce que l’audience comprend bien votre proposition?]

Preparation and product knowledge: Do you fully understand your product/service/business? Is your business plan well thought-out? Can you respond to impromptu questions? [Préparation et connaissance du produit: Maitrisez-vous complètement votre produit/service/business? Est-ce que votre business plan est bien réfléchi? Pouvez-vous répondre aux questions impromptues?] Visuals: Use visuals to present the business, but do not write out the entire presentation in a PowerPoint. [Visuels: Utilisez des visuels afin de présenter votre business, mais n’écrivez pas la présentation entière dans un PowerPoint.]

The presentation should last 10-15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of questions from the audience. [La présentation doit durer 10-15 minutes, suivie par 5 minutes des questions de l’audience.]

Structure of presentation Introduce yourself. Introduce your business, service, or product. Explain how your presentation will be structured. (“First, I will tell you about…. Then, I will explain… etc.) Tell the story behind your product/business/service. Describe your product/service. What is it? How does it work?

Explain: The target market (who is your main group of customers?) Production cost and retail cost of product/service (how much does it cost to make it, and how much will you sell it for?) Why the product/service is necessary/unique How the product/service can compete in the marketplace, and who the main competition is. How will the service/product be marketed/advertised? Use visuals to explain. (If you would like to use a PowerPoint, please bring your computer and make sure it will connect with the projector ahead of time. You can also make posters, bring images, create a prototype, etc.)

Conclusion Summarize the most important points of your presentation Thank your audience Invite questions Questions from the audience (this is your participation grade for the course every week). The audience will vote on whether or not they would invest in your business.
