8 The imperative If you are talking to one other person who is the same age or younger, you use the tu form of the imperative, just as you would use the tu form of the verb when talking to them: With regular –er verbs the tu form always ends in –es. To make the imperative, and turn the sentence into a command, simply take off the tu from the beginning, and the –s from the ending. E.g. Mange une pomme! Eat an apple!

9 The imperative If you are talking to more than one person, or to an adult, then you need to make the vous form of the verb into an imperative. Just take off the vous from the beginning. E.g. Vous prenez la deuxième rue à gauche. You take the second road on the left. Prenez la deuxième rue à gauche. Take the second road on the left.
