2 Le futur simple  On emploie le futur simple pour exprimer  Une supposition  Une probabilité  Une action à venir. ( an upcoming action.)

3 USEFUL EXPRESSIONS  Demain = tomorrow  ce week-end = this week-end  dans une heure = in an hour’s time  la semaine prochaine = next week  le mois prochain = next month  l’année prochaine = next year  l’avenir = future

4 USEFUL EXPRESSIONS  un jour = one day/ some day  lundi prochain = next monday  dans trois jours = three days’ time

5 Formation: For regular verbs, it is the infinitive plus the endings.  Je ………ai  Tu………..as  Il …………a  Elle………a  Nous ……ons  Vous ……ez  Elles……ont  Ils…………ont  Je mangerai.  Tu mangeras.  Il mangera.  Elle mangera.  Nous mangerons.  Vous mangerez.  Elles mangeront.  Ils mangeront.

6 LE FUTURE Exemple: parler = to speak  Je parlerai = I shall speak  Tu parleras = you will speak  Il parlera = he will speak  Elle parlera = she will speak  Nous parlerons = we shall speak  Vous parlerez= you will speak  Ils parleront = they will speak  Elles parleront = they will speak

7 The final “e” of the “-re” verbes is dropped & replaced by the endings.  Exemple : vendre = to sell  Je vendrai = I shall sell  Tu vendras = you will sell  Il vendra = he will sell  Elle vendra = she will sell  Nous vendrons = we shall sell  Vous vendrez = you will sell  Ils vendront = they will sell  Elles vendront = they will sell

14 ACTIVITÉ 1  Put the verb in bracket into the simple future.  1. 20 SOME IRREGULAR VERBS  Voir ( to see) je verRai, tu verRas, ils verRont etc.  Savoir ( to know) je saurai, nous saurons  Elles sauront etc.  Venir ( to come ) je viendrai, nous viendrons, vous viendrez etc.  Dire ( to say ) je dirai, ils diront, vous direz  Faire ( to do ) je ferai, tu feras, il fera etc.
