1 Français This lesson aims to be the follow on and build on lesson 1. The aim is to teach this explicitly in a 30-minute session and then practise the greetings and reasons for how they feel in registration on a daily basis. There are audio files embedded into the powerpoint – just click on the speech bubbles. Translations of the text will be shown in the PPT notes. Français – French ça va? – how are you? Ça va?

2 Je m’appelle Jack, et toi?
Bonjour! Salut! Comment tu t’appelles? Je m’appelle Jack, et toi? Je m’appelle Sue Enchanté! This first slide is revision from the last lesson, but includes 2 new phrases: et toi? – and you? enchanté – pleased to meet you You can play rock paper scissors with this conversation: all students start off as an egg (with hands above their heads in the shape of an egg) they find another egg and then have the conversation changing the names for their own. They then play rock paper scissors the winners become chicks and flap their elbows like a chick – the losers remain eggs Eggs have to find an egg, chicks a chick and then they complete the sequence above (conversation – rock paper scissors) Chicks become birds if they win – flapping their arms like wings Birds then become Superman if they win – and the first person to punch the air and shout Superman wins and the game stops

3 Une Chanson Bonjour Salut Comment ça va? Comment vas-tu? (répétez!) Tu vas bien? Très bien, oui! Et toi? Moi aussi! Bonjour, bonjour Salut, salut Comment ça va? Comment ça va? Comment vas-tu? Comment vas-tu? (repetez!) Tu vas bien? Très bien, oui! Et toi? Moi aussi! (répétez!) This is a song that is used as the basis for this block of vocabulary. It is suggested that you first begin with listen and repeat (speaking) then you click on the hyperlink in the title and sing along with the song (on You Tube). The song starts by saying: Bonjour! Ça va bien? – Hello, are you well? Qu’est-ce que vous voulez faire aujourd’hui? – what would you like to do today? Vous voulez chanter? – Would you like to sing? Then the song starts properly: Bonjour - good day/hello Salut - hi / hello Comment ça va? – How are you? Comment vas-tu? - how’s it going? (répétez!) – (repeat) Tu vas bien? – are you well? Très bien, oui! - very well, yes! Et toi? – and you? Moi aussi! – me too! This song forms the basis of the language for this half-term and should ideally be sung regularly. It could be performed at a school concert, etc… You should encourage the students to use gestures – these are detailed in the following slides.

Au revoir! Au revoir! This slide brings in some greetings. The main focus is on pronunciation and intonation, encouraging pupils to imitate the patterns of each dialogue and rehearse in pairs from memory so they can sound really confident and authentic. This lesson should build confidence.

Moi aussi! Here is a conversation that you can encourage the students to have with each other – they can change the underlined words for another opinion of how they are (from slides 6-10)
