Fleury (2 Jura sites)  Oct. 1 st 2003: Laure Comont [3 years PhD grant from Research Dpt of Local Adminitr. District (Region Centre)]  Eval. MC grant: C. Applicant: Martin Kainz, Univ Victoria, Canada. Project: Biomolecular source identification of OM in peatland ecosystems (lipid biomarkers, i.e. fatty acid methyl esters)  Philipp Steinmann: invited staff at ISTO in the framework of RECIPE (1 month (April or May 2004) fund from Univ Orleans). 3 Analysis progress:  Sampling on Oct. 2001 2 sites in the Jura: Le Russey (France): 5 cores (70 Samples) La Chaux d’Abel (Switzerland): 6 cores (91 Samples)  Analyses: CNS analyses, identification & counting of organic fragments, counting of bacteria, sugar analyses of peat samples and vegetation (8 sphagnum sp., 1 polytrichum, 2 Erioph. sp.).  Participation to congresses: 9 th Congress of Sedimentology (Oct., 14-16th 2003, Bordeaux) 7 th Meeting of Soil Study (Oct., 22-24th 2002, Orleans)
