Expressions + infinitive (I had to) = il fallait + infinitive il fallait ranger les documents To improve and vary your writing or speech in French you can use the subjunctive tense after a few expressions like: il fallait/il faut que (I had/ I have to) 1)The subjunctive is the same as the present tense for ER ending verbs(je/il/elle/on miss out the R) Il fallait travailler = il fallait que je travaille. (it was necessary to work = I had to work) 2)For IR ending verb miss out R and put SSE Il fallait/il faut finir = il fallait/il faut que je finisse. (it was/is necessary to finish = I had/have to finish) 3)IRREGULAR VERBS Faire = je fasse Avoir = j’aieEtre = je sois Aller = j’aille

Change et mets au subjonctif 1. Il fallait travailler toute la journée 2. Il fallait être bien habillé. 3. Il fallait arriver à l’heure. 4. Il fallait remplir des papiers. 5. Il fallait faire du café. 6. Il fallait aller au travail. 7. Il fallait avoir un uniforme.
