Loison Eidgenössisches Departement des Innern EDI Bundesamt für Statistik BFS  The Swiss Federal Statistical Office FSO is modernising the production of statistics: in the future it will not carry out any surveys by questionnaire where it is possible to use existing data.  This modernisation allows for a seamless data transmission between the different public population records and the FSO data records.  These innovations have an effect over and above the census and represent a significant step forward for eGovernment in Switzerland.  The number and the nature of these projects has made the FSO one of the major players in eGovernment (CH). eGovernment

Loison Eidgenössisches Departement des Innern EDI Bundesamt für Statistik BFS Basic Principles of Swiss Census 2010  The new census is based primarily on population registers (cantonal register and communal residents register, federal persons register, federal building and apartments register).  The need for additional information is covered by sampling surveys (structural surveys, thematic surveys).  The production of statistics (from collection to output) is integrated and co-ordinated in a global « population and household statistics» system.
