2 LE FUTUR PROCHE: ALLER + infinitif
To express the near future (plans & intentions) PRESENT of aller + INFINITIF = going to ________ exemples: Ils vont finir leurs devoirs. They are going to finish their homework. Je vais aller en ville. I’m going to go downtown. Negative Inversion form SUB + ne + PRES aller + pas + inf… Que word + PRES aller – sub + inf … exemple Sylvie ne va pas regarder la télé. To say something has been going on for an amount of time or since a certain point in time. Translates as «has been –ing» and deals with events that started in the past and that are STILL CONTINUING. des exemples: Je suis en France depuis six mois. Je joue au tennis depuis 4 ans. Je suis en France depuis le 7 juillet. for (when a period of time is given) since (when a specific date or time is given)

To express what people have been doing since or for a certain time, the French use the construction: duration of activity for Je travaille ici depuis cinq jours. present + DEPUIS + starting point in time since Je travaille ici depuis lundi. To ask a question: Depuis quand? Depuis combien de temps? Since when? Depuis quand travailles-tu ici? How long? Depuis combien de temps attends-tu?
