2 Synapses inhibitrices Hypothèse Modèle Simulations Conclusion
Sommaire Le sommeil Synapses inhibitrices Hypothèse Modèle Simulations Conclusion C. Touzet. Sleep: the hebbian reinforcement of the local inhibitory synapses. Med. Hypotheses, 85: , 2015.

Cognition depends on the cortical size. Genetically determined Folded in order to fit into the cranial box Shortcuts between adjacent folds Structures below allow for faster activation between far cortex localisations (hippocampus, thalamus, etc.) The rats do not seem to have a cortical colum organization... but others mammals do. The size of the micro-colums differs betwwen species : 110 neurons (humans), … Plasticity is a major component for the cortex and its functional « lateralization » is a little bit over stated (persons with only one hemisphere)

4 2.1 Synapses inhibitrices
Homéostasie synaptique (non hebbien) : rôle « secondaire » Cognition depends on the cortical size.

5 2.2 Synapses inhibitrices
(a) Cortex 0.6 m (b) Cortical map 2 mm 40 maps maps (~160) 30 columns 33 columns columns (~1000) Cognition depends on the cortical size.

7 3.2 Hypothèse Cognition depends on the cortical size.
Cumulative excess wakefulness (h) Cumulative Sleep debts (h) Psychomotor vigilance task performance lapses A B Cognition depends on the cortical size. Genetically determined Folded in order to fit into the cranial box Shortcuts between adjacent folds Structures below allow for faster activation between far cortex localisations (hippocampus, thalamus, etc.) The rats do not seem to have a cortical colum organization... but others mammals do. The size of the micro-colums differs betwwen species : 110 neurons (humans), … Plasticity is a major component for the cortex and its functional « lateralization » is a little bit over stated (persons with only one hemisphere) Van Dongen, H. 8 3.3 Hypothèse “Le sommeil est la période durant laquelle les synapses inhibitrices voient leur efficacité restaurée.” Cognition depends on the cortical size. Genetically determined Folded in order to fit into the cranial box Shortcuts between adjacent folds Structures below allow for faster activation between far cortex localisations (hippocampus, thalamus, etc.) The rats do not seem to have a cortical colum organization... but others mammals do. 10 L'immobilité n'est pas un pré-requis pour le sommeil.
