In French, most adjectives agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe. Most adjctives form the feminine by adding a silent –e to the end of the masculine form, unless one is already there. Adding a silent final –s to the masculine and feminine forms gives you the plural forms of both. Julien est impatient Margot est impatiente Julien et Marc sont impatients. Margot et Lea sont impatientes French adjectives are usually placed after the noun they modify.

The adjective « châtain » is generally used to only describe hair. Ex: Ma mère a les cheveux châtains The adjective « brun » [dark] is only used for hair. Ex: Vous avez les cheveux bruns et les yeux noirs.
