3 BUT one group of 16 verbs use the present tense of Être instead. MOST verbs use part of Avoir to form the passé composé. Here is that list

5 When the passé composé is formed with Etre, the past participle behaves like an adjective. So, if you have a feminine subject (the “doer” of the verb), you must also have a feminine past participle.
