Orientation session for Committee members: 21 June 2009 The Next Cycle of Periodic Reporting According to Article 29 of the Convention and para 199 to 210 of the Operational Guidelines Periodic Reporting serves the four following purposes: 1.to provide an assessment of the application of the World Heritage Convention by the State Party 2.to provide an assessment as to whether the outstanding universal value of the properties is being maintained over time 3. to provide up-dated information about the properties to record their state of conservation and the changing circumstances 4.to provide a mechanism for regional co-operation and exchange of information and experiences to ensure effective long term conservation of properties (para 202)
