Framework: Years Year 3: Experiment with the writing of simple words. Year 4: Write simple words & phrases using a model and some words from memory Year 5: Write words, phrases and short sentences, using a reference Year 6: Write sentences on a range of topics using a model

Writing in Years 5 & 6 Dont panic! Year 5\: L5.2 Make simple sentences & short texts. Make a sentence using single word cards. Make a short text using word & phrase cards. Year 6: L6.4 Write a sentence on a range of topics using a model. Construct a short text, e.g. a Powerpoint

Looking ahead to Year 7….. Use sentences & paragraphs as models for their own writing Use familiar structures & vocabulary to build short paragraphs of narrative & non-narrative text.
