Transcription de la présentation:

Its shoere time you learned the conjugation of a stem-changing verb!

The verb préférer is known as a shoe verb (or a stem-changing verb) because… The je, tu, il and elles have a common stem and nous and vous have another stem.

When a verb has two different stems that follow this pattern, it is often known as a shoe verb. How did it get that name? Je Nous Tu Vous IlElles The conjugations that fit in the shoe (je, tu, il, elles) all have the SAME STEM!

Je préfèreNous préférons Tu préfèresVous préférez Il préfèreElles préfèrent A stem-changing, shoe verb! REMEMBER: é makes the long a sound!

Je préfère manger la glace au chocolat. Tu préfères la classe de géometrie ou de physique? Il préfère la classe dallemand. Nous préférons parler français. Vous préférez aller au café ou au restaurant? Elles préfèrent faire des magasins au centre commercial. Elles adorent Rue 21.

The endings for préférer are normal (e, es, e, ons, ez, ent), it is the STEM that changes. The stem changes from an accent grave (è) in the je, tu, il, elles to an accent aigu (é) in the nous and vous forms. -- the change occurs for pronunciation purposes!
