L’imparfait The imperfect tense

The imperfect tense (l’imparfait) is used when: 1. Saying what something was like: C’était cool – it was cool C’était génial – it was great C’était ennuyeux – it was boring

2. Talking about something that used to happen regularly Je faisais du vélo – I used to go cycling J’écoutais la radio – I used to listen to the radio J’allais au parc – I used to go to the park

3. Talking about something that went on for a long time J’habitais à Paris – I used to live in Paris / I was living in Paris Je jouais au foot – I used to play football/ I was playing football Je parlais espagnol – I used to speak Spanish/ I was speaking Spanish
