Systèmes complexes, Systèmes compliqués. de quoi parle-t-on? Définitions/exemples: Un système compliqué: Construire un Airbus A380. En mettant à disposition le temps, le nombre et la qualités des ressources nécessaires, il est possible de le recréer. En fait la quasi-totalité des outils, processus créés par l’homme sont du domaine des systèmes compliqués. Un point à bien prendre en compte: Les systèmes/algorithmes informatiques sont des systèmes compliqués. Un système complexe: Parvenir à faire manger par un enfant un plat de spaghettis en sauce sans se faire une tache. Vous pouvez construire autant de modèles mathématiques, réunir les plus brillants cerveaux, vous ne pourrez trouver un moyen de reproduire de façon fiable cette action. D’ailleurs, la mère de l’enfant en appliquant les principes de la « sémantique générale » est sortie du cadre défini et a acheté un bavoir! Ne pas confondre « complexe » et « compliqué » Abandonner tout ce qui est techniquement très compliqué (pas « d’usine à gaz »). Se souvenir que « l’impossible » s’avère souvent n’être qu’une illusion. Et surtout Oser considérer l’impensable! Les caractéristiques d’une innovation de rupture AVANT son développement, elle n’est évidente QUE pour l’inventeur. APRES son développement, elle est évidente pour TOUS. D’où les aberrations liées au financement de son développement. Les organismes financiers adorent financer les « innovations de ruptures » mais à condition que les brevets aient déjà été déposés!! (donc que l’innovation ait déjà été réalisée. Avec quels fonds? Ce n’est pas leur problème.) © BMSystems 2010

The Life science modeling dilemma The mechanisms of life are complex non-linear and integrative processes. In “living complex” systems, the functions of biological components and mechanisms are event and context-dependent. The same components/networks can produce different biological effects. Classical “Cartesian” modeling concepts & approaches, valid for the majority of man-made artifacts, imply the concept of a “blue-print”. Components are “function-specific” and their assembly pattern determines the final function of the structure they constitute. But this concept is at the opposite of biological reality... … But, “Cartesian” Bioinformatics and Mathematical tools have proven to be efficient tools to collect, structure, analyze, simulate specific functions, etc… to test or to validate innovative hypotheses to be generated. And, the “garbage in, garbage out” reality, tells us that the information produced and published (even in top leading publications) is necessarily ALWAYS incomplete, biased and erroneous to an unknown extents. Despite increasing investments in Technology and I.T., the major drugs and biological products submissions to FDA are constantly declining. We need to change our point of view. © BMSystems 2010
