Teacher notes: You will find 3 different approaches to using these resources over the next slides. Select the approach that works best for your class. You can build this up over time and add extra challenge for learners who are ready to move onto the next stage. The translations are in the slide notes. Each phrase includes the audio to help with pronunciation! There is also a summary slide with the complete menu at the end of each day to help you with ordering. Please note! Svp is short for s’il vous plaît (please)

Teacher: Soupe? Pupil: Oui s’il vous plaît / Non merci Teacher: Le poulet, le dahl ou la pomme de terre? Pupil: Le poulet s’il vous plaît / La pomme de terre svp. Teacher: Une pomme de terre avec fromage ou avec jambon? Pupil: (Une pomme de terre avec) fromage svp. Teacher: Merci! Pupil: Merci! Teacher: Soup? Pupil: Yes, please/No thank you. Teacher: Chicken, dahl or potato? Pupil: Chicken please. Teacher (If the pupil orders baked potato) A potato with cheese or with ham? Pupil (A potato with) cheese please. Teacher: Thank you Pupil: Thank you!

Pupil: Je voudrais le poulet s’il vous plaît / Je voudrais une pomme de terre avec fromage s’il vous plaît. Teacher: Merci! Pupil: Merci! Teacher: Would you like soup? Pupil: Yes, please, I would like soup/No thank you. Teacher: Would you like chicken, dahl or potato? Pupil: I would like chicken please. / I would like a potato with cheese please. Teacher: Thank you Pupil: Thank you!

Teacher: What would you like to eat Pupil: I would like soup and chicken please. Teacher: Thank you Pupil: Thank you! If pupils can manage this, they can also begin to add in the extra details from each of the items! E.g. Je voudrais la soupe aux lentilles et le poulet pané s’il vous plaît.
