2 Immediate Future Tense
Use ‘aller’ plus the infinitive. E.g. I am going to speak. Je vais parler – I am going to speak. Il va se coucher – he is going to go to bed. Nous n’allons pas manger de chocolat – we aren’t going to eat any chocolate. Ils ne vont jamais oublier leurs devoirs – they are never going to forget their homework.

3 Le ‘vrai’ futur

4 (Proper) Future Tense -IR / -ER regular verbs. Take the infinitive and add these endings: Je parlerai Tu finiras Il / elle / one jouera Nous réussirons Vous pleurerez Ils / elles travailleront

5 However with regular –RE verbs you add the above ending on to the end of the infinitive, but you must remember to remember to remove the –e first. E.g. vendre  je vendrai

6 s’asseoir – je m’assiérai
The following verbs have irregular stems – but the endings remain the same. être – je serai venir – je viendrai avoir – j’aurai tenir – je tiendrai faire – je ferai recevoir – je recevrai aller – j’irai s’asseoir – je m’assiérai devoir – je devrai (ac)cueillir – je cueillerai vouloir – je voudrai pouvoir – je pourrai savoir – je saurai envoyer – j’enverrai voir – je verrai courir – je courrai acquérir – j’acquerrai falloir – il faudra mourir – je mourrai pleuvoir – il pleuvra

7 N.B. used after the following phrases to indicate and action that has not yet taken place (but assumed in the future): Quand – when Lorsque – when Dès que – as soon as Aussitôt que – as soon as Autant que – all the while that Une fois que – once En même temps que – at the same time as Après que - after Lorsqu’il viendra, je lui parlerai – when he comes I will speak to him. Le futur – the future (only the tense) Futur(e) – can be used as an adjective E.g. mon futur mari L’avenir (m) – the future (a noun)

8 Other irregularities Consonant doubling: Appeler  j’appellerai E becoming è: Acheter j’achèterai -oyer/iuyer  i : Employer j’emploierai Verbs that have an acute accent keep it: Répéter  je répéterai
