3 si + imparfait  conditionnel
The following formulas, known as “si clauses” (if clauses) combine different verb tenses: si + présent  futur si + imparfait  conditionnel

4 Examples: Si j’ai le temps, je téléphonerai à mes grand-parents.
Si j’avais le temps, je téléphonerais à mes grand-parents. Si tu vas au supermarché, tu achèteras du coca. Si tu allais au supermarché, tu achèterais du coca.

6 To form the conditional past, put the helping verb(avoir or être) in the conditional and follow with the past participle How do we know which verbs take être? How do we form the past participle of: -er verbs? -ir verbs? -re verbs? Mr. Mrs. Vandertramp! -é -I -u

8 Rules of agreement apply to verbs conjugated with être.

9 The conditional past expresses what would have happened or what a situation would have been under different circumstances: Ils seraient allés avec nous, mais ils travaillaient. J’aurais quitté la maison, mais j’ai perdu mes clés.

11 A clause beginning with si is often used with a particular sequence of tenses:
