Last 30 Years - Large Increase in the Intake of n-6 PUFAs in Industrialized Countries
Between 1972 and 1998 the n-6 fatty acids rose from 4% to 6%. Upsurge of Asthma in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Germany might be a related phenomenon. The unexplained increase in the incidence of edema, allergic rhinitis, and regional differences of inflammatory diseases within countries may relate to increased n-6 fatty acid intake.
