Garantie Nationale Garantie nationale Importation temporaire Importation temporaire Transports under the TIR system are facilitated. Once the goods are loaded and checked by customs along with the declaration in the TIR carnet, the load compartment will be sealed and the truck will be able to cross the borders with minimum administrative burden (TIR carnet is one harmonized document) and without to have to lodge financial guarantees. Benefits are multiple: Time (and time is money) Gain of money as no guarantee needs to be lodged Decreased risk as the transporter doesn’t need to transport with him the financial guarantees On top of these benefits, it has to be mentioned that the governments will have a guarantee that in case taxes and duties are not paid, they will be able to recover up to USD50’000.- (or EUR60’000.- in EU countries) from the chain of guarantee. Finally the cost for the holder is also small: On an average, the cost per USD100,00 of guarantee is only 0.05 cents!!
