L’histoire À la fin de l’ancien régime, il y avait 34 provines en France. L’ancien régime est le système du gouvernment avant la Révolution Français. Après la Révolution Français, le gouvernement a divisé le pays dans 95 départements. En 1982, France a été divisé dans 22 régions pour limiter le pouvoir du gouvernment.

Les provinces Même aujourd’hui on utilise le terme “province” pour décrire les régions variés du pays. Chaque province produit les produits spécifiques à cause du climat varié du pays. Ce powerpoint va vous décrire les produits spécifiques qui viennent des provinces et villes importantes.

Normandie The famous French cheese “camembert” comes from Normandie. There is a tale that says Napoleon kissed the waitress who first served this cheese to him. Apple cider and brandy (calvados)

Champagne The name itself gives away what products come from this region: Wine Champagne

Provence Herbs Olive trees Fish soups Tisanes (herbal teas)

Baccarat This area is known for producing beautiful French crystal

Franche-Comté This region close to Switzerland is know for producing gruyère cheese (a very mild cheese used for fondue savoyarde, soupe à l’oignon gratinée, and soufflé du fromage)

Bourgogne Like Provence and Alsace, Bourgogne has many vineyards and produces a large amount of Wine

Grenobles This region of France is known for producing nice gloves

Nice This region in the south of France is a high tech industrial center. Many engineers and scientists come to this area to work.

Grasse This region is near Nice and is known as the perfume capital of the world. Needless to say, perfume is a major product from this region.

Lyon This region of France is known for the silk it produces.

Toulouse The French aerospace industry joined forces with Spain, Germany, to form Airbus Industrie.

Massif Central Bottled water is produced here for brands like Evian, Perrier, and Vichy.

Paris Paris is technically in the province called “Île de France.” Paris is known for producing Brie cheese. It is also known as the home of the fashion industry.

Picardie This area of France is known for producing a variety of industrial products due to the area’s many iron mines.
