Excellent Notes Comparison of current and new syllabuses: The current syllabus starts with Themes, which are studied through Texts in order to acquire Language skills. However, the Themes are very wide and so general that anything can be studied. Types of texts which can be used are limitless. Language skills are defined according to the assessment format and mainly list class activities. Generally, the syllabus is felt as undefined. Its focus seems to be on its Themes while in fact, language skills are at the heart of the assessment. The new syllabus reverses the aspects, starting with Language which is acquired through Texts and enable an awareness of the Culture(s) concerned. Each aspect is defined.
