4 Placement Generally, place adverbs that tell how much how much how often or how often or **how well **how well someone does something AFTER the conjugated verb. **Except in the passé composé…..the adverb goes between the auxiliary verb and past participle. These adverbs tend to be shorter in length.

5 Des exemples... Je joue souvent aux dames. Je joue bien aux dames. MAIS: J’ai bien joué aux dames. Elle fait rarement du vélo. Elle fait assez mal du vélo.

6 Placement Place longer adverbs at the beginning or end of a sentence. Ex. Sometimes, I play checkers. 1. Quelquefois, je joue aux dames. 2. Je joue aux dames quelquefois.

7 Placement Place d’habitude at the beginning of a sentence. Ex. Usually, I play checkers. 1. D’habitude, je joue aux dames.

8 Placement Place ne... jamais around the verb. Ex. I never play checkers. 1. Je ne joue jamais aux dames.

9 En plus... Most other adverbs, such as those... of time (hier, maintenant) of time (hier, maintenant) ending in –ment (normalement) ending in –ment (normalement) usually go at the beginning or end of the sentence.

10 Ex. Normally, I spend every Saturday with my friends. 1. Normalement, je passe le samedi avec mes amis.

11 Pratiquez! Je jouais à chat perché. (souvent) Je jouais souvent à chat perché.

12 Les chats ont grimpé aux arbres. (assez bien) Les chats ont assez bien grimpé aux arbres.
