2 Object pronoun rules: REGULAR Object pronouns receive the action of the verb (indirect or direct) Object pronouns go immediately before the verb Exemple: I am calling Marc. I am calling him.

3 Object pronouns Je- me/ m’ - me Tu- te/ t’ – you (inf) Nous- nous - us Vous- vous – you (for)/y’all

4 Exemples They are inviting us. Ils nous invitent. I am calling you. Je te téléphone. I am presenting you to Paul. Je vous présente à Paul.

5 Phrases commonly used with object pronouns Présenter…à- to introduce…to Apporter…à- to bring…to Donner…à- to give…to Montrer…à- to show…to Prêter…à- to lend…to Rendre…à-to give back…to

6 Object pronouns rules: COMMANDS Affirmative commands: ~the object pronoun comes after the verb and is attached with a hyphen ~me  moi Negative commands: ~the object pronoun comes before the verb

7 Exemples Lend me ten euros. (for) Prêtez-moi dix euros. Bring us some lemonade. (inf) Apporte-nous de la limonade. Don’t call me today. (inf) Ne me téléphone pas aujourd’hui. Don’t wait for us tomorrow. (for) Ne nous attendez pas demain.

8 Object pronouns rules: VERB + INFINITIVE With an infinitive, use the pattern: ~subj. and verb + object pronoun + infinitive

9 Exemples I want to invite you (inf) to the concert. Je veux t’inviter au concert. We are going to call you all tonight. Nous allons vous téléphoner ce soir. Sophie can’t help you (inf) today. Sophie ne peut pas t’aider aujourd’hui.
